Tuskers Men vs S.Q.U.A.D
Having recently been beaten by SQUAD at their venue, we were poor on the day. Finding out our two middle players were enjoying themselves else where in the world. One in sunny Barcelona the other in Birmingham....

With two matches to go until the end of the season The result was not important compared with giving court time to new players.

Expectation wasn't great, but once the match starts. That all goes out the window, I don't care it is win at all costs.

Tuskers win 3-2 (21-17 21-23 21-13 14-21 17-15). After our last match we were totally in control in the first set, the second set was a lot closer and we did pull a 4 point lead of 18-14 a couple of good blocks from SQUAD and a couple of errors it was 21-20 to Tuskers. SQUAD held thier nerve to win the next two points and the 2nd set. The 3rd set saw Tuskers again take control (it must be our lucky end) and take the set. The 4th set started ok until we were 11-13 down but still in touch, Then a mini collapse and we lose 6 points on one serve receive, A struggle to win the set from there. We lost the 4th and were not feeling good.

The 5th set started very close, one point in front then one point behind with SQUAD reaching the magic 8 points first for the change of ends, with a point dropped here and there SQUAD pull a 3 point lead 11-14 and they only need the one point to win.

My turn to serve, puting SQUAD under enough pressure for us to win 3 points, now 15-14,a sideout 15-15 SQUAD's turn to serve, sideout again 16-15 to us with Ade to serve and while I am shouting out instructions over SQUADS supporters vuvuzalar,. The whistle goes and Ade serves an ace right into the middle of the court winning us the match 16-14.

It is a tight call on either Sef (first full match) or Christiano for man of the match, Thanks to Ade and Moro playing out of postion thru the middle. Chris finding a baby sitter, Hai-Binh not working, just leaving Greg and Me to make up the 8 players in the team tonight. - Jonathan ... See MoreSee Less

Tuskers Men vs London Red Rebels

This being the local darby and Tuskers beating Rebels at their home venue. We had our strong team out, which had beaten the top of table teams Giant Men and Lionhearts. We were confident of a win.

Shock, it was not to be. We lost 0-3 (16-21 15-21 19-21)
We were ahead 19-17 in the third, but with the sort day we were having, we managed to lose it. Although Rebels kept us honest and under pressure, in the end it was our own performance which let us down.

Two matches left to secure that third place in the table and the £10,000 prize money 🙂
